As all of you know, I have had a very bad problem with AT&T and their Blackberry smartphones. I have had to consistently get really bad phones with either bad build, speakers not working, camera quality issue, trackpad problems, and a bad battery door. I have gone through 7 Blackberrys. Yes 7 of them. You can’t believe it can you. This has occurred through both series of the Bold’s (9000 and 9700) It took them forever to finally agree and give me a free Bold 9700. I think AT&T better go through their stock one by one if they keep sending out bad phones. Tomorrow (Monday July 21, 2010) at around 3 PM PST I should be receiving the 7th Bold (9700) from them. It just blows me away that I can not get a good phone with out it being a hassle. Not once did I receive a bad phone from T-Mobile. I hope to get a wonderful phone from AT&T tomorrow. I will let you guys know and I will post some videos and pictures here. UPDATE:
So anyways I thought today would go great you know since I was getting a new phone from AT&T. WRONG! Today around 1 PM, Fedex came by and didn’t knock on my door. They decided that they would leave my phone in my backyard. It would be okay if the weather wasn't 98 degrees. I was furious. I thought they had given my device to another person. Anyways I get the phone and put the battery and SIM in it. Hoping it would be a good device right? WRONG AGAIN! I went to take a picture with this so called “flagship” device and when I went to hit the side button (the one on the right) I could see on the screen that the camera application had opened but I didn’t even feel the button even click. So I did it another time. I WAS FURIOUS BECAUSE THEY SENT ME ANOTHER bad device. I am so pissed off it isn’t even funny. It seems to be AT&T with the WORST phones or something because this has never happened to me when I bought T-Mobile phones. I am going to call AT&T and have them send me out a Motorola Backflip. I don’t know about Android but anything seems better then these horrible Blackberry’s from AT&T. I HATE this. HATE! I paid for a good, working, cell phone. Not some half baked device. Also when I received my new Blackberry and I found out that problem I immediately retreated to the forums at Crackberry and wrote a new thread. A jerk told me I was “picky” and that I need to “suck it up”. I am not picky. I paid for a device that should not have problems and that I should be able to use properly.
I will let you guys know about my call to AT&T tomorrow. Please feel free to leave a comment.
Update (June 24th, 2010) : So I have decided to maybe keep my 6th Bold. I am not really liking the Backflip. I am maybe considering going back to T-Mobile in August maybe. Time will have to tell....
Update (June 26th, 2010) : I have decided to stay with Blackberry. I am not keeping my 6th Bold because on the right side the bezel is loose and then on the bottom left of the screen it is loose also. I just want a good working Blackberry. I talked to an AT&T Rep online today also. She was very helpful (much better then over the phone support.) I asked her if it was okay to go to an AT&T store instead of going to a warranty center or getting a replacement through the phone (since AT&T said it was a Brand New Phone. Not refurbished or anything just brand new.) Annie (the rep) said yes. Here is the chat below.
Chat on June 26th, 2010:
Thank you for your patience! An AT&T sales representative will be with you shortly.
You are now chatting with Annie, an AT&T sales representative.
Annie: Welcome to AT&T online Sales support. How may I assist you today Eric?
Eric: Hi Annie
Eric: I am a current customer and I am very dissatisfied
Eric: I know you probably can't bring my account up. I am just very frustrated
Annie: I understand you are frustrated, how can I help?
Eric: Well they sent out a replacement 9700 and first off the fedex people left it outside and the weather was 100 degrees
Eric: and the guy didn't knock at all
Eric: and when I tried using the camera button on the replacement it was loose or something.
Eric: It is really frustrating and then when I called and I spoke to a manager they said they would call me Friday. Well its now Saturday and they have not called
Eric: I have NEVER had so many problems
Eric: What should I do?
Annie: I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience.
Annie: I will do my best to assist you with this today.
Eric: It's not that I am picky or anything. These are real problems and thank you
Annie: Are you able to log into your MyWireless account to confirm upgrade eligibility right now?
Eric: Yes
Eric: I am not eligible till next year
Eric: See AT&T sent me a brand new 9700 because I had problems with my 9000
Eric: and I want to know if I can go to a store or something
Eric: Not a warranty center.
Annie: Unfortunately as Sales support I do not have access to your account and would not be able to provide early upgrade options online, however our Customer care department does have access to your account and can gladly assist you with this as well as provide any replacement or upgrade options .
Eric: Okay
Annie: Your alternate option would be to go to an At&t store.
Eric: Okay
Annie: Would you like the number?
Eric: But see do I need proof of payment?
Eric: No I have the number
Eric: You provide more help then they do it seems like
Eric: Sorry :(
Annie: Thank you for your understanding Eric.
Annie: It would be best to bring proof of payment.
Annie: And photo id for account verification.
Eric: See when AT&T shipped out my brand new 9700 they sent a packging slip for my old Bold 9000
Eric: but they still say its a brand new 9700. not a reconditioned one
Annie: I see. They should have your order information on file too.
Annie: While you're here chatting with me today, may I answer any other questions you have about our phones and rate plans?
Eric: No
Eric: Thank you so much Annie
Eric: Wait one more question
Annie: You're very welcome.
Annie: Sure thing!
Eric: So if I go to an AT&T store and ask them to exchange the device. Will they be able to see that its a new Bold and everything? Do you think they can exchange it?
Annie: As long as you bring the phone and any receipt with you, they will be able to pull up your account information and verify what you have.
Eric: Well see I don't have a receipt
Annie: They will certainly be able to help you exchange your phone for a good one!
Eric: AT&T didn't send me one when they sent the new Bold.
Eric: They sent me a packaging slip with the thing. Would that work?
Eric: I can't go to a warranty center because it is a long long drive
Eric: I don't mean to bombard you with my problems. Sorry :(
Annie: Yes. They will have all your account and order information on their computers. They will be able to match the numbers and exchange your device for you.
Eric: Okay
Eric: Thank you Annie!
Eric: You have been very helpful
Eric: You don't know
Eric: :)
Eric: Thank you thank you :D
Annie: It was my pleasure Eric!
Annie: Thank you for using At&t online Sales chat support. Have a pleasant evening Eric!
Eric: You too Annie :)
Eric: Thank you
Annie: You're welcome. Good luck!

So anyways the warranty center is not far away (30 minutes by car.) The last time I went to a warranty center they were rude and they gave me another bad device. So as Annie said, I CAN go to a regular AT&T store without any problem. I have to ship back the other phones Monday. This really sucks.
Also please go to the Crackberry thread and read my problem and get answers there.

I will update you guys soon!
*Update (Monday August 2nd, 2010): Yesterday I spoke with AT&T (Melinda Spring----) and we discussed the issues with my 9700. She said that the manufacturer will not let me switch my device again (which is bull) and she said she would send me out another 9700. Also at this time my mother who is sick has been having her Blackberry crash every other day so they are sending out a Blackberry out to her (Her first replacement. Don't f*ck this one up AT&T/RIM.) At this point I am ready to use the cell phone lemon law and cancel my contract. This is a waste of my time and I just can't do it anymore. It is such a shame. I will update you guys when I get my new Blackberry tomorrow or Wednesday.
Update (Thursday August 5th, 2010): So we received the phones and guess what?! The Bold 9000's charger port area is loose just like my first Bold 9000. I have yet to try out the 9700 they sent me. How damn frustrating and now my 9700 is dropping calls like crazy! How frustrating. I am in contact with AT&T via e-mail and telephone so we are going to see if they will switch out my device. I can't wait to get away from Blackberry. The problem is when you buy a phone you expect a good working model, right?
Update (August 14th, 2010): So I spoke with AT&T last night and I got a load of bull. They are telling me that they won't be able to switch out my device again and that they will be sending me out the same device well I said after 8 Blackberry's I am pretty pissed off. The rep said "Well if you want to get a different device you can upgrade (at full price) and she kept saying that since I didn't call her within three days or rather call AT&T that she wouldn't be able to send me out another phone. This IS BULLSHIT. How do these people keep customers with reps like this?! On the other hand, I talked to a wonderful rep named Stephanie Stevens who was very, very, kind and helped me the best she could. Then when she transferred me to the other rep she stayed on the line to make sure everything was gonna be okay. She was WONDERFUL AND I HOPE AT&T will be having MORE AND MORE reps like this. I am going to be expecting a call later today so stay tuned. I hope for this to be resolved with just a different device. Oh by the way, when I was on the phone with the rude rep she told me that phones do have glitches and that every phone will have them so then I retaliated and said "So 8 of these phones is what I have to go through?" She replied "yes" and then quickly corrected herself by saying that 8 device replacements is a lot and that 3 should be the maximum and that its not right. Oh this lady was a cherry. Anyways I will be letting you guys know more later. Thanks for reading.
